Artificial intelligence is the latest technological wonder. However, it’s not as standardized as it could be. The British Standards Institution (BSI) and the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) will work with the Alan Turing Institute and launch a new UK government initiative that will shape the global technical standards for AI.
New AI Hub to Deal With AI Standards
The Hub is a part of the National AI Strategy that aims to increase the country’s contribution to global AI technical standards.
According to the latest research, over 1.3 million UK businesses will use AI by 2040, as AI spending will drastically increase.
The AI Standard Hub will work on practical tools for businesses, bring the UK’s AI industry together via a new online platform, and create educational materials to help organizations benefit from global standards.
What’s more, the Hub will improve the governance of AI. All this should lead to the enormous economic potential of these technologies. The Hub will also bring the AI community together through workshops and events and encourage coordinated engagement.
BSI and NPL will share world-class expertise for developing the necessary standards. The Hub is also backed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS) and the Office for AI (OAI).
The UK’s officials believe that this ten-year plan will place the country at the forefront of this transformative technology and improve many people’s lives.
